Edwards Rotary Vane Pumps
EDWARDS TWO STAGE ROTARY VANE VACUUM PUMPS
These pumps are oil-sealed and designed for reliable, long-term operation. The motor is totally enclosed and is cooled by the motor-cooling fan which directs air along the motor fins. The motors are fitted with a thermal overload device. When the motor is too hot, the thermal overload device switches off the pump. The thermal overload device has an automatic reset; when the motor cools down, the device resets and the motor will restart. An oil pressure system lubricates the pump shaft bearing surfaces and rotor sealing faces. The pump has an oil distribution valve which prevents discharge of oil to the pump interior (suckback) after the pump stops. The pumping chambers are air-tight, so this arrangement prevents oil suckback unless the gas ballast valve is open.

EDWARDS RV ROTARY VANE PUMPS
These pumps have NW25 inlet and outlet ports, a gas-ballast control and a mode selector. When the pump is switched off, an inlet-valve seals the inlet and prevents the suck-back of air and oil into the vacuum system. An oil-pump delivers pressurised oil to the vacuum pumping mechanism in the RV pump. You can inspect the level and condition of the oil in the oil-box through a sight-glass. Two oil filler-plugs and an oil drain-plug are provided on the oil-box. The pump mechanism is driven directly by a single-phase or three-phase electric motor through a flexible motor-coupling. The motor is totally enclosed and is cooled by the motor cooling-fan which directs air along the motor fins. The pumps are cooled by an additional fan attached to the motor-coupling. Single-phase motors are fitted with an on/off switch (12) and a thermal overload device. When the motor is too hot, the thermal overload device switches off the pump. The thermal overload device has an automatic reset; when the motor cools down, the device resets and the motor will restart.

Leybold Rotary Vane Pumps
LEYBOLD TRIVAC A ROTARY VANE VACUUM PUMPS
Trivac A series pumps are oil sealed vacuum pumps designed for economical performance in rough to medium range vacuum applications. The pumps are ruggedly constructed and easy to operate. The rotor is mounted eccentrically in the pump cylinder where it rotates rapidly, forcing the vanes to slide against the cylinder all by centrifugal force. Pumping is achieved by alternately increasing and decreasing the volume of working space in the pumps cresent-shaped cross section. Pump and motor shafts are connected by a flexible coupling which is specially constructed to operate quietly and smoothly. All Trivac pumps are equipped with totally enclosed fan-cooled motors, enabling the pump to run cooler in enclosed areas. A-series pumps also include a gas ballast valve to prevent vapors from condensing in the pump chamber.

LEYBOLD TRIVAC B ROTARY VANE VACUUM PUMPS
Trivac B series rotary vane pumps are direct drive, oil-sealed vacuum pumps designed for continuous operation to 760 Torr. They can be backing pumps for roots pumps, diffusion pumps, turbomolecular pumps and cryopumps. The pump body is comprised of a cylindrical housing, or stator, which contains an eccentrically mounted rotor with two sliding vanes. The vanes divide the pumping chamber into compartments of variable volume as they slide against the cylinder wall. The sliding of the vanes displaces and compresses the pumped media. To prevent the vanes from sticking or clogging, lubricating oil is injected into the pumping chamber. The anti-suckback valve is also built into each pump. It is actuated whenever the pump motor stops to keep backstreaming oil from diffusing into the chamber.

LEYBOLD TRIVAC BCS ROTARY VANE VACUUM PUMPS
Trivac BCS series rotary vane pumps are direct drive, oil-sealed vacuum pumps designed for extremely corrosive applications, such as aluminum etching and other harsh chemical processes. They can be backing pumps for roots pumps, diffusion pumps, turbomolecular pumps and cryopumps. They have high pumping speeds, low ulimate pressure and gallbasting for high water vapor tolerance. They also contain a forced feed lubrication system with its own internal gear pump.

LEYBOLD TRIVAC SV ROTARY VANE VACUUM PUMPS
The SOGEVAC SV 200 and SV 300 are single- stage, oil-sealed rotary vane pumps. The anti-suckback valve, gas ballast valve (optional), exhaust filter, oil return circuit and oil cooling oil are integrated functional elements. The pumps are driven by a directly flanged motor. The rotor, mounted eccentrically in the pump cylinder has three vanes which divide the pump chamber into several compartments. The volume of each changes periodically with the rotation of the rotor. As the rotor rotates, the intake portion of the pumping chamber expands and sucks gas through the intake port. The gas passes through the dirt trap and the open anti-suckback valve and enters the pump chamber. As the rotor rotates further, the vane separates part of the pump chamber from the intake port. This part of the pump chamber is reduced, and the gas is compressed. At slightly above atmospheric pressure the gas is expelled from the chamber via the exhaust valve.
Oil injected into the pump chamber serves to seal, lubricate and cool the pump. The oil cycle is maintained by the pressure difference existing between the oil case (pressure above or equal atmospheric pressure) and the intake port (pressure below atmospheric pressure). Only part of the oil is taken from the oil reservoir and flows via the oil filter to the bearing points of the rotor and to the pump chamber. The other part of oil injected in the pump does not run through the oil filter. So, if the oil filter is accidently completely clogged, lubrication will be assured through the second circuit with enough quantity of oil to guarantee the good mechanical running of the pump.
